Emma Cliff - BSc Phys MCSP

 

Emma graduated from Bradford University in 1994, and immediately secured her first position as Physiotherapist at the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

 

Emma spent four years at the hospital and gained a wide range of experience, going on to work in the private sector for two further years.

 

In 1998, Emma joined the Physio team at the Huddersfield Giants, working closely with the academy and senior teams. Emma has since worked in several capacities with rugby league, including first team Physiotherapist for Featherstone Rovers for four seasons.  

 

Emma, along with Susan, is part of The Rugby Football League's medical team that screens the country's best young rugby players for any potential musculoskeletal problems, and has attended numerous Rugby League Carnivals and Training Camps providing professional support.  

 

In 2003, Emma was Physiotherapist for the England U17 rugby league team that hosted Australia, and then to the U18s team that toured Australia and New Zealand a year later. Emma is currently Club Physiotherapist at the Old Brodleians RUFC.

 

In 1999, Emma completed a post graduation Certificate in Manipulative Physiotherapy at the Sheffield Hallam University, and joined the Huddersfield Nuffield private hospital. Emma spent seven years at the Nuffield, including two as Physiotherapy Manager.

 

Susan Ford - Grad Dip Phys MCSP

 

Susan graduated from Nottingham School of Physiotherapy in 1983 and then gained valuable experience at Wythenshaw Hospital, a large teaching hospital in South Manchester, specialising in cardiothoracic surgery.

 

In 1985, Susan returned to her home town, Huddersfield, and combined working in the intensive care unit at the Royal Infirmary and being Physiotherapist to Huddersfield Rugby League Club (now the Giants), where she worked for 15 years. In 1997 she completed a post graduate certificate in Sports Physiotherapy at Manchester Metropolitan University.

 

Since leaving the Giants in 2000, Susan has held several posts in Rugby League at Junior and Senior team level. For several years she has been part of the team (along with Emma) that works with the Rugby Football League to screen the country's best young players.  Susan has also been Physiotherapist to the England senior team, and toured Australia with the U18s Academy team.

 

Susan has also worked in a busy GP clinic for over 20 years, where she has treated a wide range of injuries and complaints.

 

Susan is also Physiotherapist to Huddersfield RUFC.
